We sincerely hope that you and your family had a wonderful holiday and are ready to start the 2007 new year.

Unfortunately for those in the diecast model car trade, 2007 (at least the early part) will continue to see price increases for the products we trade. As many of you already know, the cost of the raw material zinc (main material for diecast metal) has risen sharply over the 24 months -as well as many other metals. The commodity zinc every month continues to hit record highs on the trading floors throughout the world. You might have caught some of the news in 2006 that the Fed announced that it costs more to make a penny than a penny is worth.

World demand for zinc continues to outpace supply and prices continue their assent. A very fair question to ask is where is all this zinc going to? Zinc is a raw material used in construction. Zinc is used to make steel and other alloys; moreover zinc is used to galvanize steel like bolts, fences, girders and a whole host of other products. Although new construction in the US has slowed, countries like China and India continue to build highways, bridges, buildings, and houses at a record. Did you know that China now builds one Singapore worth of buildings and roads per month!

Since many of the Diecast factories had already increased their prices; we have no other choice but to adjust our prices or else not have the product to offer our customers. Already goods that have arrived the the last few weeks, goods in transit, and goods on order are more expensive than previous shipments. We will continue to adjust our pricing as the shipments arrive. As a ball park figure, I expect prices to increase at least another 10% to 30% for the first quarter of 2007. Our web site pricing reflects our most current pricing and I am expecting a great majority of the items to increase in price early February 2007. We hope you will understand the difficult situation we are all facing. If there are products you know are steady item(s) for you, consider purchasing them now. We see prices unlikely to recede in at least the first 3 quarters of 2007.
